Ninety-nine-year-old woman wins oldest wing-walker title in England

Helga Duffy became the world's oldest wing-walker at Rendcomb Airfield in Gloucestershire, England, after a daring flight.

Guinness World Records officially gave her the title this week following a stunt performed atop a small plane. She achieved this feat just three months after a ninety-seven-year-old woman named Betty Bromage previously held the record.

Helga Duffy stated she had no idea what wing-walking entailed until she saw the demonstration. She felt determined to try the activity because she wanted to do something different before she was too old to attempt it again.

Despite worries about her bad right knee and arthritis, she remained aloft for more than five minutes in specialized gear. The ninety-nine-year-old nurse described the sensation of being up a thousand meters as pure and unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

Her niece Jackie Rose realized the possibility of this record after seeing reports of Betty Bromage winning the title. Everyone was clapping as the crowd showed deep admiration for her bravery despite the pain in her knee.

“Age is irrelevant. It's just lovely to see somebody doing something they enjoy.”
