Teenagers rescue family from flooded Florida home
Two teenagers used a kayak and paddleboard to rescue a mother, her son, and three dogs from a flooded house in Florida.
Floodwaters filled the Palm Bay home where the family waited on a kitchen counter for over three hours. They stayed trapped there hoping someone could reach them quickly before the situation became too dangerous for everyone inside.
A mother reading a desperate Facebook post sent her two teenage sons to help the stranded family. Fifteen-year-old Jonah borrowed a neighbor kayak while his seventeen-year-old brother Lucas took a paddleboard to reach the people stuck inside.
Jonah explained that seeing people in trouble made him act immediately without thinking about the risks involved. Lucas helped the frightened boy first and kept his mind off the scary situation by asking about school and sharing a joke.
The brothers successfully brought everyone back to dry land after ensuring the scared child felt safe during the operation. The family now stays with a friend while recovering from this traumatic event that nearly ended their lives inside the rising water.
