75 year old woman smashes handstand record in Perth

Perth woman Esther Fischer has become the oldest person to perform a handstand while holding the stance for at least fifteen seconds.

Esther Fischer completed the feat on August thirty one without any assistance from other people nearby during her attempt at the gym facility in Perth city centre area. She held the difficult pose for fifty five seconds total during the successful record breaking attempt.

The seventy five year old retiree said the idea came after friends questioned the existing standing record for this specific physical achievement. Her research told them it was a seventy four year old man from the United States who previously held the title.

Ms Fischer explained that doing a handstand is easy for her. But she did not master the skill quickly after starting her practice. It took her three years of consistent work to finally hit the mark and she described the moment as completely unreal and very special.

Her success has motivated many others to try the difficult physical task themselves. The local gym where she has been a member for ten years introduced a new longevity class for older adults recently.

Gym owner Jacob Moffitt said the class helps people sixty and over get strong. He noted it improves their movement quality and overall life quality significantly.

“Esther, you can do that”
