Halloween displays raise millions for pediatric cancer care
Over six hundred households across the United States raised one point two million dollars for pediatric cancer treatment through spooky Halloween yard displays.
Jeff Robertson started this tradition in 2020 after his large skeleton army attracted news attention across North Carolina. He decided to shift the spotlight from himself to help families in need instead of just showing off.
The fundraiser now supports St. Jude Childrens Hospital by covering medical bills, travel costs, and housing for families treating sick children. Participants build their own haunted houses while directing donations to this vital organization.
Six hundred twenty five homes plan to join the event which runs from Halloween through December twenty fifth for donors. Some participants install over forty animatronics while others light flaming skeletons safely on their lawns to attract visitors.
People like Elizabeth Stripling in Maryland add decorations to bring joy to hospitalized children who cannot celebrate with their families. She places donation jars on her lawn so neighbors can contribute to helping sick kids feel cared for.
“I just want to give back.”
