Couple marries after lightning strike revived boyfriend twice
Nick and Eva Broderick married in Wisconsin after a lightning strike required Eva to restart Nick's heart twice during their hike.
Eva and Nick were hiking near their car in Kettle Moraine State Forest when sudden rain forced them toward the parking area. Eva turned to Nick and asked what would happen if they were struck by lightning during the stormy weather.
A tree absorbed the main lightning strike while the lovers received a shock from ground current that left Nick stiff and unresponsive. Eva described finding him blue and not breathing while she held him tightly during the terrifying electrical incident.
Eva called 911 but poor signals delayed help until search and rescue found them after fifty minutes of difficult searching. She performed CPR and restarted his heart twice while waiting for medical teams to arrive at the remote location.
Nick survived a three day hospital stay with minor hearing loss and tendon damage but recovered fully from the severe shock. He proposed immediately after leaving the hospital because he realized his life and heart now belonged entirely to Eva.
“I brought him back from death, so he's kind of stuck”
