Lewisville barber Returns bag of Cash found at ATM
A Lewisville barber found a large bag of money on top of a bank machine and gave it back.
A man and a woman stopped at the ATM. They saw a heavy bag lying there on the device surface for all to see clearly. They noticed the bag was full and decided to check who owned the items inside before doing anything else.
Investigators found the funds belonged to a major bank after a technician left them there while fixing the automated teller machine recently. A receipt inside the money bag showed the exact amount of one hundred twenty eight thousand five hundred fourteen dollars waiting for its rightful owner.
Police officers counted the funds twice using an electric currency counter to verify the total was exactly one hundred twenty eight thousand five hundred fourteen dollars. The count confirmed the pile was intact and full when it was found on the street.
Detective Gina Miller stated she had never seen someone turn in money before. She noted most people would likely keep such a large sum for themselves without hesitation. Police Chief Brook Rollins praised the man for knowing it was the right thing to do.
