Student organizes birthday surprise for principal after mentorship
A seventeen year old student organized a birthday prank for his high school principal in Georgia after the leader changed his life.
Fifty one year old Bobby Davis rushed to the cafeteria when a student claimed a fight had broken out inside the school building recently. He arrived at the scene to find a ring of students holding phones high in the air.
The mobile video showed how the crowd suddenly shouted happy birthday to Davis as the young man who organized the surprise revealed the truth. The tumult of discord dissolved quickly into cheers from everyone present in the hallway. Davis jumped up and down like a child.
The young man named De'Zayviun Watkins told TODAY that principal Davis changed his life for the better when he helped an unstable teen. Watkins struggled with anger but Davis helped him discover empathy for others. The mentor helped him reconsider his future path.
Davis explained that students know when senior figures do not care about them and that compassion is the only way to ensure a right environment. He stated that if children do not feel loved and respected, they will not learn in their school environment. Care is essential for student success.
