Lost dog found after month in yellowstone

A ten year old Jack Russell terrier was found safe after surviving more than thirty days alone inside Yellowstone National Park.

Luna left a secure cabin near Canyon Village while owners from California explored the park grounds. She wandered alone for weeks, crossing busy roads and entering staff housing areas. Early fall weather in the park drops from fifty two degrees down to thirty one degrees at night.

She was seen near places her family had visited before, suggesting she tried to follow their path. Her first year on the streets ended when she was adopted by a new home. Volunteers from Norris Ark Training and Recovery Center located her using a trap with food and a pillowcase.

A vet checked her condition and noted she had lost roughly ten pounds of weight. Katie Boucher led the search effort until the dog was finally caught in the trap. She stated the animal was alert and in good spirits during the recovery process.

This happy reunion shows how persistence brings lost pets back to safety. The community worked hard to ensure Luna got home safely.

Her survival proves the power of love and effort. Everyone hopes she stays healthy for many more years.
