Man climbs moving bus to save children
Ebro Ahmed climbed onto a moving school bus in St. Paul to save eighteen children during a medical emergency.
The frightening incident occurred Monday afternoon while students were heading home from school in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood. Ahmed spotted the bus rolling past him with its doors open and the driver seizing up in distress.
He realized the children were in danger and climbed aboard the moving vehicle to stop it before the situation became even more dangerous for everyone inside the bus. Ahmed had no medical training but knew he needed to act immediately.
Once the vehicle halted, Ahmed contacted law enforcement and medical services to assist the driver with necessary care. When emergency responders arrived, Ahmed counted eighteen children aboard the bus and confirmed none were injured.
St. Paul officials stated that the driver was released from the hospital and resting at home while another bus took students home. The school's mental health team also reached out to the students after the frightening experience.
