Stranger saves fifty foster children from Georgia fire
A stranger named Casey saved fifty children from a burning home in Georgia after his GPS led him to the wrong road.
Casey found smoke rising while driving south on Highway 114 in Chattooga County near Lyerly. He realized he was lost but knew he had to help the family inside the house immediately.
His GPS had taken him off the correct route into the danger zone where the fire started burning. He called out to the homeowners who were sleeping in their living room at that late hour on Saturday night.
James Burke woke up to find a man telling him to leave the dangerous building right away. The stranger explained that his navigation system put him on a path he had never visited before.
Casey worked with James and his son to wake up the occupants and get them out of the burning building safely. The house and two cars were completely destroyed by the intense flames that consumed the property down to charred beams.
The community has responded with immediate generosity to help the foster parents find a new rental home for the children. Many kids have already moved to other homes while the Burkes search for a large unit suitable for their growing family.
“I'm so thankful that he did.”
