Students fill football field with donations in New Jersey
Hundreds of students gathered a quarter million pounds of food for local banks during a recent challenge.
Bright yellow bags covered the entire field at Howell High School, creating a massive display of charity. This specific event represents the biggest donation drive ever recorded by the nonprofit organization Dermer Dreams.
The school football players worked alongside volunteers to move heavy bags into rented trucks for transport. These trucks delivered supplies to partners including Lunch Break, Fulfill, Howell Food Bank, and Open Door in Freehold.
A small effort started by neighbors expanded into a powerful show of generosity across schools, businesses, and families. Volunteers and students united throughout New Jersey to ensure the collected items reached those in need.
Thirty food banks received the supplies to assist families throughout the state immediately. This year builds on the first 2025 challenge where teens organized volunteers and built leadership skills simultaneously. The goal is to feed hungry people while inspiring youth to act globally.
“Every bag represents a young person who chose to make a difference in someone's life”
