Teachers build bench and library for student at stop
Florida teachers Maren and David Douglass built a bench for a girl waiting at their driveway bus stop.
Reports indicate the couple saw the student sitting on the ground through their home surveillance camera one morning. They realized she lacked a sidewalk to shield her from moving cars nearby. They chose to place a bench for the middle schooler immediately.
It was just the cutest reaction, her little jumps—and it just got sweeter from there, Maren told People. The grateful student later left flowers for the forty four year old woman. Her note thanked them for helping her avoid dirt and bugs.
The couple installed a small free library beside the seat so she could always find books to borrow. Since then, other neighborhood children have checked out and brought back the shared reading materials. Footage from their doorbell camera has made millions of viewers very happy.
Other neighborhood children began borrowing and returning the community books stocked in the new library area. The couple continued to create more joy around the new bus stop location. Their actions show how simple gifts can change a day.
